Charity

All members of the club are involved in choosing a charity for us to work with throughout the year. We tend to support local organisations to give back to our community. In the past, we have fundraised and gathered donations for the Trussel Trust and our local food bank, for Tyneside and Northumberland Mind, the Dragonfly Cancer Trust and last year The Peoples Kitchen.

This year (2023-24) our chosen charity is Fact Cancer Support.

Some of the activities we run to fundraise and spread awareness about our chosen charities are Pub Quizzes, movie nights, and the much anticipated annual Newcastle Come Dancing!

What is Newcastle Come Dancing?

  • A night of music, laughter and dancing to raise money for charity.

  • We have NCL Dance Club dancers, acting as the Professionals, paired up with

  • Committee members from other societies and clubs, who make up the Celebrities.

  • Everyone at the event can vote for their favourite couple with donations making Strictly one of the most successful fundraising events in the year.

In 2023, the event raised £1325 for The People’s Kitchen and in 2022 it raised £1992.25 for the Dragonfly Caner Trust.

Welfare

Our dedicated Charity & Welfare Officer, Maxime Levassuer, is always around to answer any questions, collect fundraising ideas or just a chat!

Maxime will host a monthly welfare check in session in which you can go to her with any queries, issues or to talk.

The dates for these will be posted on Facebook and Instagram @ncldanceclub nearer the time.
